Some of the best news we get to share is the simple kind – like a new slide for Janice Roberts Memorial Park in Iaeger.
EDA Executive Director Frances Hale recently presented a check to Charles Walker to help put a brand new slide on the playground at the park. The new slide is a bright blue wave slide with a six-foot deck – the kind kids spot from the parking lot and take off running for.
Funding was made available by the EDA along with McDowell County Commissioners Cecil Patterson and DeWayne Dotson and Commission President Michael Brooks. Projects like this one happen because people decide a park in Iaeger is worth investing in, and we’re glad to have partners on the commission who see it that way.
Parks are one of those things that quietly matter. They give kids a place to burn off energy, give parents a place to catch their breath, and give a town a reason to get together. Every improvement at Janice Roberts Memorial Park is a win for the families who use it.
We’ll share photos once the new slide is installed. Until then, keep an eye on the park – good things are happening there.
