McDowell County EDA Funds New Truck for Solid Waste Authority

The McDowell County Economic Development Authority (EDA) has recently demonstrated its ongoing commitment to the operational effectiveness of county services by allocating funds for a much-needed update to the Solid Waste Authority’s fleet. A generous donation of $24,000 has been provided to assist in the purchase of a new truck, replacing an older vehicle that had accumulated over 300,000 miles.

Critical Support for Essential Services

The aging truck being replaced had served the Solid Waste Authority well but was nearing the end of its operational life, necessitating frequent repairs and maintenance. The EDA’s timely financial support will allow the Solid Waste Authority to acquire a new truck, ensuring the continued efficiency and reliability of waste collection services throughout McDowell County.

Presentation of the Check

The presentation of the $24,000 check was made by Barry Hale, President of the McDowell County EDA, to Randall Patton of the Solid Waste Authority. This act of support was conducted with recognition of the vital role the Solid Waste Authority plays in the community, providing dependable and essential services to the residents of the county.

Impact of the New Vehicle

The acquisition of a new truck is expected to significantly improve the service capabilities of the Solid Waste Authority. With a more reliable vehicle, the authority can ensure that waste collection and management operations run smoothly, reducing downtime and maintaining high standards of service for the community.

Ongoing Commitment to Community Support

This donation is part of the McDowell County EDA’s broader effort to ensure that critical county services have the resources they need to function efficiently. By supporting the upgrade of essential equipment, the EDA helps to sustain the quality and reliability of services that the residents of McDowell County rely on every day.
